New Rites for Marriage and Confirmation - 2016
On 11th February, at the RE Centre, Holy Ghost, Luton, Martin Foster from the national Liturgy Office addressed a packed meeting of priests, deacons, catechists and Marriage Preparation helpers from all over the Diocese.
The topic was the new rites (or "Orders") for the sacraments of Confirmation and Matrimony which have just been published and are mandatory for use in all parishes from Easter 2016.
This means that the new wording (which is in most cases simply a new translation of the current Latin texts) will have to be used for anyone who is to be confirmed at the Easter Vigil this year, and for any couples getting married in April and after.
The Ritual Books are now available from the Catholic Truth Society.
Notes of Martin's informative and wide-ranging talk are available to download here. These have been prepared by Deacon Brin Dunsire, who has added several of his own observations, but Martin Foster has approved these as a good record of his delivery.
Templates, model prayers, resources, FAQ's and much other information is available from the Liturgy Office website.
