Bishop David has appointed Helen Burgess of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Flitwick as the diocesan link for the National Board of Catholic Women (NBCW).
Accepting the post Helen said
“Taking up this position I was encouraged by Bishop David. I hadn’t heard of NBCW but learnt very quickly how they aim to give Catholic women a voice”
Diocesan Links are appointed by Bishops to act as a liaison between each diocese in England and Wales and the National Board of Catholic Women, which is a consultative body to the Bishops’ Conference.
As diocesan link, Helen has been tasked with; connecting with all Catholic women in our diocese, both individually and groups, keeping Bishop David up to date with current issues of concern to women, organising events to bring women together and attending national board meetings.
Helen has already been able to gather a small group of women together, with prayer and reflection, she hopes to find ways of gathering other groups of women in our diocese to reflect on and celebrate their ministries and their sense of vocation at this time.
