Our diocesan pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady in Walsingham took place on Saturday 12th June. Due to covid restrictions, The pilgrimage was remote for most of the diocese.

Bishop David began the pilgrimage by praying the Angelus at midday followed by Mass. He was joined in Walsingham by the pilgrimage director, Deacon Michael Fleming.

The new Rector of the Shrine, Mgr Philip Moger welcomed Bishop David and the diocese of Northampton saying “until 1976, Walsingham was part of the diocese of Northampton, I hope Bishop David, you are not here to take it back!”.

Bishop David prayed that our “blessed mother, Mary would help us to treasure the Word of God and ponder it in our hearts”

The diocesan pilgrimage to Walsingham, has in previous years attracted hundreds of pilgrims from all areas across our diocese and it is hoped that next year we will all be together in that special place once again.
