Every year our diocese celebrate the tremendous work undertaken by our catholic schools across our diocese with a dedicated week called ‘Catholic Schools Week’. . We ask your prayers and encouragement and that of all our people for this valuable vocation.
Monsignor Kevin McGinnell, Episcopal Vicar for Education says
“Like all schools, these months have been and continue to be very challenging as they respond to the pandemic. It has made many extra demands on all staff to which they have responded generously. Our young people and their families have had to get used to a new way of being in school. We appreciate that many of our parishioners are not in Catholic education and so our prayers extend to all schools, colleges and universities”.
Our theme this year is The Word of God – the light for our journey. It draws on St John Henry Newman’s hymn, “Lead kindly light”. Our Catholic Schools’ Week is deliberately set near to his feast as he was an inspirational educator and head teacher.
