school and university chaplaincy

The diocese provides chaplaincy support to all primary and secondary schools and universities within the diocese. This ensures that the essential emotional, spritural and religious support is available to all. Some of our schools have appointed Chaplaincy Coordinators who work in schools and with the local clergy to coordinate Chaplaincy services. Some of these coordinators also work across a number of schools as part of a diocese multi-academy trust.

Our universities may have a part time chaplain suppported by the local parish.

Each school or university will be able to provide contact details for their chaplain or relevant parish. School contact details are available on our Schools Finder page.

Hospital and Hospice chaplaincy

Our larger general hospitals are served by a multi faith chaplaincy team normally based within the hospital. Many of these hospitals also have prayer rooms and chapels. The diocese provides a catholic chaplain who works as part of the hospital team to offer emotional, spritural and religious support and the sacraments.

Our hospices are provided chaplaincy support by the local parish.

Each hospital or hospice will be able to provide contact details for their chaplain or relevant parish.

prison chaplaincy

The five prisons and two Young Offender Institutes within the diocese have dedicated chaplains to provide the valuable emotional, spiritual and religious support so needed by all.

These chaplains provide an opportunity for those in the prison system to learn about, and experience God’s love, mercy and forgiveness in a safe and non-judgemental environment.
