History of the Devotion

Heaven’s Peace Plan for the Church, Families and Nations was presented to us through the Messages of Our Lady of Fatima to three children, Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta from May 1917. It is a humble and peaceful plea – to pray the Rosary daily and to practice monthly the First Saturdays of Reparation.

On 10th December 1925, Jesus and Mary came to Lucia when she was a postulant in the Dorothean Convent in Pontevedra, Spain.

Jesus said, “Have compassion on the Heart of your Most Holy Mother covered with the thorns with which ungrateful men pierce it at every moment, and there is no one to remove them with an act of Reparation.”

Our Lady then said, “My daughter, look at My Heart surrounded with the thorns with which ungrateful men pierce it at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. You, at least, try to console me, and say that I promise to assist at the hour of death, with all the graces necessary for salvation, all those who,on the first Saturday of five consecutive months, shall confess, receive Holy Communion, recite five decades of the Rosary and keep me company for fifteen minutes while meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary, with the intention of making reparation to me.”

The First Saturdays are crucial and integral to the Peace plan of Heaven. This message requesting the First Saturdays is the great Crown of the June 13th and July 13th messages given in Fatima in 1917 to Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco in which Our Lady said she would come to ask for the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart, and the Communion of Reparation on the First Saturdays.

Each first Saturday we are asked to:

  • Go to Confession (within 8 days, before or after the 1st Saturday)
  • Pray the Rosary
  • Receive Holy Communion – as a Communion of Reparation
  • Meditate for 15 minutes on the Mysteries of the Rosary

All with the intention of making Reparation for sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

First Saturdays may be done individually, communally or in small groups as long as we fulfil all the requirements

Why 5 Saturdays? 

Our Lord revealed to Sister Lucia that the Devotion was in reparation for the five offences and blasphemies spoken against the Immaculate Heart of Mary:

  1. Blasphemy against her Immaculate Conception.
  2. Against her Virginity.
  3. Against her Divine Maternity, refusing, at the same time, to

         receive her as the Mother of mankind.

  1. Those who publicly seek to sow in the hearts of children indifference, disrespect and even hate for this Immaculate Mother.
  2. The offences of those who revile her directly in her Sacred Images.  

The Rosary and the First Saturdays are the great desire of both the Hearts of Jesus and Mary for these dangerous times. Heaven is pleading with earth through these requests!

The First Saturdays are the forgotten part of the Fatima message and the most important for the peace of the world and for the salvation of souls. Jesus and Mary gave to us all and to Holy Church a monthly means of prayer of Reparation for the sins of the world and a call for us to make a monthly confession and Communion of Reparation. 

 Reparation is about putting love where there has been a hurt. 

Sr. Lucia strongly stated in 1939: 

“War and Peace in the world depend on the celebration of this devotion and the consecration to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary connected to it …”

 Pray the Rosary daily for Peace

and practice the First Saturdays of Reparation.
