On Friday 25th October, members of the Union of Catholic Mothers (UCM) from across the Diocese gathered in prayer and fellowship for their annual Rosary Rally at the Shrine of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour in Great Billing, Northampton.

The afternoon was marked by a deep spirit of devotion as UCM members prayed the Rosary together, entrusting their families, parishes, and communities to the maternal care of Our Blessed Lady. The rally offered an opportunity to give thanks for the past year’s work and to renew commitment to the UCM’s mission of supporting marriage and family life within the heart of the Church.

Founded in 1913, the Union of Catholic Mothers has a long and proud history of encouraging women to live out their Catholic faith in everyday life. Through prayer, friendship, and charitable service, members seek to uphold the sanctity of marriage, promote the Catholic upbringing of children, and support one another in faith and family life. The UCM is active in parishes throughout the country, offering both spiritual enrichment and practical outreach to those in need.

The Shrine of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, where the rally took place, is one of the spiritual treasures of the Diocese of Northampton. Nestled in the village of Great Billing, the shrine has been a place of prayer and devotion for generations, drawing pilgrims who come to seek Mary’s intercession and to encounter the mercy of her Son.

As the rally concluded, participants were reminded of the enduring importance of prayer, community, and trust in Our Lady’s guidance, values that lie at the heart of the Union of Catholic Mothers’ witness in the Church today.
