Northampton Cathedral will come alive with the sound of joyful voices on Saturday 13 December 2025 at 2:30 PM, as the Northampton Cathedral Junior Choir presents Carols of Hope, a traditional service of lessons and carols.
The event promises to be a heartwarming celebration of the Christmas season, offering families and parishioners the chance to reflect on the message of hope at the heart of Advent and Christmas. Attendees will also be invited to join in singing many beloved carols, making the afternoon a shared expression of community and festive spirit. After the service, refreshments will be served in the Cathedral Centre, providing an opportunity to gather, mingle, and share the joy of the season together.
Formed in January 2025, the Northampton Cathedral Junior Choir brings together talented young singers from Catholic primary schools and parishes across Northampton. In their first year, the choir has already become a cherished part of the cathedral’s musical life, showcasing the gifts and enthusiasm of the area’s children.
A lessons and carols service is a much-loved Christian tradition that weaves together Scripture readings, “lessons, telling the story of salvation and the birth of Christ, each followed by a carol that reflects on the message of the reading. This beautiful pattern of word and music helps congregations enter more deeply into the meaning of Christmas.
The Carols of Hope service is open to all, and organisers warmly encourage families, parishioners, and friends to come along, join their voices with the choir, and support the young singers as they lead this treasured Advent tradition.
