From 18 to 25 January 2026, Christians across the Diocese will join believers around the world in the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. This annual celebration offers a special opportunity to reflect on our shared faith in Christ and to pray for the reconciliation and unity of all Christians.
This year’s theme, inspired by Ephesians 4:4, declares: “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling.” The prayers and reflections have been prepared by the faithful of the Armenian Apostolic Church, alongside Armenian Catholic and Evangelical communities, drawing on centuries-old traditions of worship, hymns, and sacred petitions.
Speaking after the Angelus on 18 January, Pope Leo XIV said,
“I therefore invite all Catholic communities, to intensify their prayer during these days for the full, visible unity of all Christians.”
The Week of Prayer invites everyone, parishes, schools, local churches, and individuals, to take part in a variety of ways. Communities may gather for joint services, prayer walks, ecumenical breakfasts, or online prayer events, while families and individuals are encouraged to use the daily prayers and reflections in their own homes. Christian Aid’s “Go and Do” actions link prayer to practical service, encouraging acts of justice and compassion in our communities and beyond.
