Editor’s Note: The figures published in the Holy See’s report are those recorded by the Vatican for the Diocese of Northampton and may reflect the timing of when funds were transferred through the Apostolic Nunciature to Rome, rather than the amounts collected by parishes in a particular year. The Diocese’s own financial records show parish collections of £4,417 (2023), £12,735 (2024) and £19,973 (2025). Differences between the two sets of figures are therefore likely to reflect the timing of processing and remittance, rather than any discrepancy in parish giving.
The Diocese of Northampton is thanking parishioners for their continued generosity in supporting Peter’s Pence, the Holy Father’s annual worldwide appeal.
The Holy See’s 2025 Peter’s Pence report includes figures for dioceses across Great Britain, including the Diocese of Northampton. While the published figures may differ from the Diocese’s own financial records because of the timing of remittances to Rome, they nevertheless reflect the ongoing commitment of Catholics across the Diocese to supporting the Holy Father’s mission.
According to the Diocese’s own records, parishioners donated £4,417 in 2023, £12,735 in 2024 and £19,973 in 2025 through the annual Peter’s Pence collection.
Peter’s Pence is much more than a financial collection. It is a tangible expression of communion with the Holy Father and supports his mission of proclaiming the Gospel, promoting peace, responding to humanitarian emergencies and assisting those most in need around the world. It also helps sustain the ministries of the Holy See in service of the universal Church.
Across Great Britain, donations to Peter’s Pence totalled £795,423 in 2025, an increase of more than 54 per cent compared with the previous year. Of this, £776,202 came through diocesan collections, reflecting the generosity of Catholics throughout England, Wales and Scotland.
Each year, the Peter’s Pence collection is normally taken in parishes on the Sunday nearest to the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul (29 June), inviting Catholics to express their closeness to the Successor of St Peter through prayer and practical support.
The Diocese is grateful to everyone who contributes to this annual appeal. Every gift, however large or small, helps Pope Leo XIV continue the Church’s mission of charity, compassion and hope across the world.
