The fourth Sunday of Easter is Good Shepherd Sunday or Vocations Sunday. This year will be the 61st anniversary of the World Day of Prayer for Vocations which was launched by Pope Paul VI.
The theme for the 2024 world day of prayer for vocations is “Called to sow seeds of hope and to build peace”. You can read a message from Pope Francis here
The second collection for the weekend of the fourth Sunday of Easter, 21st April will support our priests fund which funds three key areas of vocations:
- Priestly vocation promotions
- Ongoing clergy formation
- Seminary training
To support these areas of priestly life, donate to the priests fund here and please pray our diocesan prayer for vocations:
Heavenly Father,
Inspire the hearts of your people to answer your call to the priesthood
Bless our families with a spirit of generosity and may those you call
Have the courage to give themselves to your Church in faith.
Enlighten their minds to show them your desire for them;
Fill their hearts with the determination
To answer your call in faith, hope and love.
We ask this through Christ Our Lord.
Amen
