The latest session in the ongoing Life in the Spirit seminar series took place on Tuesday evening, with a powerful and uplifting talk delivered by Jenny Baker on the theme of Growth.
Speaking to a full gathering, Jenny offered a heartfelt and inspiring reflection on what it means to grow in the life of the Holy Spirit. Framing spiritual growth as a journey rather than a one-time event, she drew on personal experiences, Scripture, and Church teaching to offer practical and accessible guidance for deepening one’s life in Christ.
Key elements of her talk included the importance of regular prayer, both structured and spontaneous; the transformative power of scripture, read with the guidance of the Holy Spirit; and the grace offered through the sacraments, particularly the Eucharist and Reconciliation. Jenny also spoke of the value of faith-filled community, encouraging the formation of small groups or prayer partnerships to provide mutual support and accountability.
She urged those present to keep “feeding their faith” through books, podcasts, and events such as the Celebrate Festival, and concluded with a call to evangelise boldly and lovingly, sharing the joy of the Gospel in everyday life. A touching story about praying for a nervous fellow passenger on a flight illustrated how the Holy Spirit often opens unexpected doors for witness.
The evening closed with a moving prayer, inviting all present to surrender more deeply to the Holy Spirit and to embrace the adventure of spiritual growth with confidence and hope.
The Life in the Spirit series continues next week, with more opportunities to be renewed and empowered in faith.
