Advent is traditionally marked in St Teresa’s parish, Beaconsfield, with a Christmas lunch where we open our doors to the wider local community in a spirit of conviviality and inclusivity. Last year’s event was celebrated on December 10th .
Transport was available for those who needed it and guests were greeted with a glass of mulled wine or soft drink before tucking into a sumptuous three-course feast exquisitely
prepared and adroitly served by a group of parishioners, many of whom are members of our
SVP Conference.
Our parish priest, Monsignor Seán Healy, and assistant priest, Fr Kamil Stawiski, joined the repast, obviously lured by the tempting aromas wafting from the kitchen!
The parish centre was bedecked with festive decorations and buzzed with lively conversation from every table, enhanced, of course, by the obligatory ‘silly hat’ from the crackers! Among the appreciative comments we received were:
“This is really high-class cooking!” and “How have they managed to cook like this for so many?”
Thanks to the unstinting efforts of the Beaconsfield SVP Conference and our parish facilities, we feel blessed that we can throw open our doors to so many people in the vicinity and share the true meaning of Christmas. Everyone left with full hearts and full stomachs! There’s always ‘room at the inn’ at St Teresa’s.
