Educators and chaplains from across Northamptonshire gathered on Tuesday 30th September at the St Thomas Centre, Northampton, for an inspiring and practical training day exploring the core values and practices behind Prayer Spaces in Schools.
The day was led by Leah Peters (Northamptonshire) together with national lead Tim Abbot, who shared their passion and experience in helping schools create sacred and reflective spaces where young people can engage with prayer in creative and accessible ways.
Drawing from many real-life stories, Leah and Tim highlighted how prayer is for everyone, because each person is innately spiritual, made in the image and likeness of God. As Scripture reminds us, “The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life” (Job 34:4).
Delegates from Catholic schools, Church of England schools, other Christian communities, and local educational settings came together to explore practical ideas and discover how Prayer Spaces can help students encounter God in a personal and meaningful way.
Emerging from the 24-7 Prayer movement, Prayer Spaces in Schools have been transforming lives around the world by providing opportunities for children and young people to pause, reflect, and pray in ways that are engaging, inclusive, and deeply personal.
