Over 30 young people came together for Lux: Hope, a Catholic residential weekend held at the Sent residential centre in Brentwood, Essex, from Friday, February 7, to Sunday, February 9. The event, designed to inspire and equip young Catholics in their faith, focused on the theme of hope, drawing from the story of Saint Paul and his journey of spreading the Gospel.

The weekend was organised by the diocesan youth ministry team, NYMO. The LUX weekend has been part of our diocesan diary for over twenty years with thousands of young people having attended one of the weekends.

Throughout the weekend, participants engaged in a dynamic programme of prayer, worship, discussions, and activities, all aimed at deepening their understanding of hope in their faith and daily lives. The retreat provided an opportunity for young people to reflect on how, like Saint Paul, they can be messengers of the Gospel in their own communities.

A highlight of the weekend was the celebration of Mass on Sunday, presided over by Bishop David Oakley. In his homily, Bishop Oakley encouraged the young people to embrace the message of hope and to carry it forward in their lives.

The Lux weekend has been a significant event for young Catholics, offering a space to connect with others, grow in faith, and be inspired by the journey of Saint Paul.
