YOUR LEGACY

Leave a Lasting Legacy of Faith

Did you know that over 80% of our income comes through the generous giving of parishioners including through donations, gifts and wills.

Our Catholic faith is a precious gift, something we pass on to our children, grandchildren, and future generations. One special way to ensure the Church continues to flourish is by remembering your parish or the Diocese of Northampton in your Will.

Leaving just 1% of your estate to your parish will make a difference.

By leaving a gift, large or small, you help the Church continue to celebrate the Sacraments, share the Gospel, support those in need, and form young people in faith for many years to come.

What Do I do Next?

All you need to do is give your solicitor our registered charity number 234091. That covers all the mission of each of our parishes in the diocese of Northampton. Your gift can be used to support the collective mission of the Church across the diocese. If you want to support specific work, you should give the full name and address of the parish or name the fund you want to support. It is that easy!

Some Catholics like to leave simple instructions for their funeral or for Mass to be said for themselves or a loved one. Your solicitor can advise if this is best done in a will, or a “Letter of Wishes” kept with your will.

Suggested wording for a legacy gift:

“I give to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Northampton, registered charity number 234091, [the sum of £…] / [the residue or …% of my estate] / [a specific item], for the benefit of [insert name of parish if desired], and I direct that the receipt of the Diocesan Finance Office shall be a sufficient discharge to my executors.”

We strongly recommend that you seek independent legal advice when making or updating your Will. A solicitor will ensure that your wishes are clearly and properly recorded.

Leaving a gift in your will is a very personal decision and there is no need to tell us about it. However, if you felt able to let us know of your plans, we would welcome the opportunity to thank you and to keep you up to date with our work, so that you can be sure that your gift will make a lasting difference.

If you already have a Will which you are happy with but would like to a gift to your church ask your solicitor or legal advisor to draw up a codicil – this is a simple legal addition to your existing will.

If you would like to ask questions about leaving a gift in your will to any part of the diocese, please call us on 01604 600337

Thank you. Every gift in every will makes a difference.
