Let Us Walk Pilgrimage
Adoremus 2026Invitation to Join a National Walking Pilgrimage
Ambulemus ut Adoremus – Let us walk that we may adore
This October, Catholics from across England and Wales are invited to take part in a national walking pilgrimage in preparation for the Adoremus Eucharistic Celebration on Saturday 10 October.
Led by Phil McCarthy, founder of the Hearts in Search of God project, the pilgrimage will take place from Monday 5 to Friday 9 October, beginning at the Church of St Francis of Assisi, Maidstone, and concluding at the Metropolitan Cathedral of St George, Southwark.
Announced at the Hearts in Search of God Spring Gathering, this pilgrimage offers an opportunity to journey together in faith, prayer and fellowship as we prepare our hearts to celebrate the gift of the Eucharist.
Taking place during the Year of St Francis of Assisi, the pilgrimage draws inspiration from the saint’s witness of joy, simplicity, humility, peace and love for God’s creation. A small group of perpetual pilgrims will walk the full route, while others are warmly invited to join for individual days along the way.
The proposed itinerary is:
- Monday 5 October: Church of St Francis of Assisi, Maidstone, to Aylesford Priory
- Tuesday 6 October: Aylesford Priory to the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Otford
- Wednesday 7 October: Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Otford, to the Church of St Vincent, Dartford
- Thursday 8 October: Church of St Vincent, Dartford, to the Church of Our Ladye Star of the Sea, Greenwich
- Friday 9 October: Church of Our Lady Star of the Sea, Greenwich, to the Metropolitan Cathedral of St George, Southwark
The route is currently being finalised, with day pilgrims able to register to walk one or more stages of the journey.
Whether you are able to walk the entire pilgrimage or simply join for a day, all are invited to share in this prayerful journey of faith, preparing together to adore Christ truly present in the Blessed Sacrament.
To proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and build the Kingdom of God in Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Slough.
