The Bishops Conference of England and Wales have launched a response to migrants and refugees. Love the stranger has been produced by the Department for International Affairs and has been has been endorsed by the Holy See, COMECE, CAFOD, CSAN and Caritas Social Action Network members. It offers 24 guiding principles emphasising the dignity of the individual and encourages the breaking down of barriers that prevent smooth travel between countries.
How many have died in our own waters without their names or stories ever being known? We should not reduce people to statistics or to a political problem to be solved.
