Mission Northampton

Promoting Evangelisation Across Our Diocese
Catechesis

Mission Northampton

Mission Northampton assists the Diocese of Northampton to live out its vocation to be a missionary diocese (c.f. EN 14). Working together with others it provides mission-related services in evangelisation and catechesis focused on making missionary disciples who are equipped and empowered to lovingly proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Theological Foundations

Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’” (Matthew 28: 18-20)

‘We wish to confirm once more that the task of evangelising all people constitutes the essential mission of the Church.’ It is a task and mission which the vast and profound changes of present day society make all the more urgent. Evangelising is in fact the grace and vocation proper to the Church, her deepest identity. She exists in order to evangelise… (Evangelii Nuntiandi 14)
