Bishop David visited Luton on Sunday 25 September to celebrate Mass with anointing of the sick for the local conference of the St Vincent De Paul Society.

At the beginning of Mass Bishop David said the Mass for all especially “for those who wish to receive the healing touch of the Lord. Let us reach out to the Lord that we might experience that consoling presence of the Lord in our lives”. Bishop David was joined by Fr Andrew Coy and Fr Brendan Seery, parish priest of Our Lady’s in Luton.

The Mass is organised by the local St Vincent De Paul (SVP) conference. The SVP support those in need through compassion and care. The SVP was founded in Britain 1844 and is an international Christian voluntary network tackling poverty. There are currently approximately 10,000 members in England and Wales who are motivated by their faith to visit the housebound, isolated and those in need.

Bishop David reminded those present that we are in need of the Lord’s healing in many different ways. Many people stepped forward to receive the anointing.
