Bishop David called for joyful action stemming from being filled by the love of the Holy Spirit. Speaking at Northampton Cathedral on the Solemnity of Pentecost, the birthday of the Church, Bishop David spoke of needing to “fill up the tank and stop running on empty!”.

At Pentecost the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples as tongues of fire and the Church was born as the disciples went out to share the Gospel.

The Bishop challenged all of us to receive the Holy Spirit afresh in our lives and the effect this would have on our parish communities and pastoral areas. He encouraged every baptised Catholics to enter into the dying and rising of Jesus as we leave our own needs behind and share the Gospel with all those we meet.
