Chain of Prayer For Priestly Vocations
Chain of Prayer For Priestly Vocations
The Diocesan Vocations Office has announced a chain of prayer for priestly vocations. The need for priests form within our own parishes and families has never been greater. The number of priests being ordained from our within our own diocese is at its lowest point. We have two men in seminary and none entered the seminary this year (2023).
This has prompted the need to be more direct in our request for prayer for priestly vocations. In the summer of 2023 Bishop David Oakley blessed three San Damiano crosses. One of these crosses will remain with him in his private chapel where he will be praying for vocations to the priesthood. The other two will travel around our diocese from parish to parish. One cross will stay in the parish church for a short time whilst the other cross is passed from family to family with a night prayer for those families to pray for priests from within their family and parish.
The rpayers can be downloaded here along with a reflection on the San Damiano cross. Our diocesan vocations Dorector, Fr Pius Amoako can be contacted by email on vocationsdirector@northamptondiocese.org
Diocesan Prayer For Priests
Heavenly Father, inspire the hearts of your people to answer your call to the priesthood, the diaconate and to the religious life. Bless our families with a spirit of generosity and may those you call have the courage to give themselves to your Church in faith.
Send your Holy Spirit upon them to guide them in their own vocations. Enlighten their minds to show them what you desire for them; fill their hearts with the determination to answer your call in faith, hope and love.
We ask this through Christ, our Lord.
Amen.
