The future of our Church depends on the men who respond to God’s call to the priesthood. Priests are vital to the mission of the Church—they bring us the Sacraments, and without them, we have no Mass, which is the source and summit of our faith.

Every penny you give directly supports the discernment, formation, and training of current and future priests. Your generosity enables three key areas:

1. Seminary Formation

2. Ongoing Priestly Formation

3. Vocation Promotion

It costs over £30,000 per year to train each seminarian. This vital time of academic, spiritual, and pastoral preparation equips them for the realities of parish life and the wider mission of the diocese.

Our priests continue to grow throughout their ministry with ongoing formation—biblical, theological, canonical, and spiritual—along with regular retreats and opportunities for reflection.

Sadly, our diocese has never had enough home-grown priests to meet the needs of all our parishes. Bishop David longs to provide every parish with a resident priest, but this is not yet possible. As vocations decline, more parishes must prepare for life without a full-time priest.

Our vocations team is working on a range of initiatives to inspire and support men considering the priesthood—but they can’t do it without your help.
