“This last two weeks has been amazing!”
Fr Simon Penhalagan, parish priest of St Martin De Porres in Luton exclaimed as the outreach fortnight came to an end. Assisted by the vast experience of Sion Community in evangelisation, 20 members of the Luton and Dunstable Catholic community have been sharing the love of God in very tangible ways: on doorsteps in one to one conversations; by giving away free tea, coffee and donuts for breakfast to bring a little joy to the rush hour traffic; and welcoming people to Re:New events at the church.
A few Catholics have come back to church after time away, and some non Christians came along to find out more. As importantly, those who shared their faith were blessed, grew in confidence and are now hungry to share their faith more. They have heard Jesus’ call on their lives and responded: ‘Go, make disciples of all nation…’
Mission Northampton, the diocesan agency instigated by Bishop David Oakley, support evangelisation across our diocese. Evangelisation is the mission of our Church.
