Would you like more support with your DBS applications and be able to ask questions about the DBS paperwork? Would you like to see the new SAFEsys system which will allow you to complete DBS applications online? This system will also allow the safeguarding office to communicate more securely via email and it will enable PSR’S to view their own parish lists for DBS cleared volunteers. annual safeguarding conference

The theme of this year’s conference will be; Understanding Spiritual Abuse and Creating Healthy Christian Cultures. This will take place on Saturday 19th October 2019, from 10am until 4pm, at Thornton College, Milton Keynes. This event will be open to Parish Safeguarding Representatives, clergy and religious. autism awareness

This course is CPD certified and will take place on Saturday 30th November between 10am and 2.30pm at the St Mary’s parish hall in Woburn Sands. The course will cover; Characteristic of autism, impact of autism on the individual, the sensory world of autism, the strengths of autism and theories related to autism. This course would be ideal for volunteers working in your parishes. Please contact Lorraine if you would like to attend.

Danielle is responsible for coordinating all safeguarding matters within the Diocese. Danielle leads in the implementation and management of the diocese safeguarding policy and practice, working closely with the Safeguarding Commission, the Bishop and Congregational leaders.

Lorraine is responsible for processing the Disclosure & Barring Services Certificate (DBS) applications. She offers advice on clerical matters and provides support and training to the parishes and the Parish Safeguarding Representatives, and in involved in the day-to-day running of the Safeguarding Office.

In an emergency, if you consider a child, young person or vulnerable adult to be in danger or at risk, immediately contact the Police or Social Services local to your parish.
