St Thomas Becket Catholic school in West Northamptonshire is celebrating exceptional Sixth Form results, having been ranked first in the area and among the top five nationally for A-Level progress.
The school announced on the 23rd February that its Sixth Form has been judged “well above average” for student progress at A-Level — a remarkable accomplishment that places it at the very top in West Northamptonshire and within the top five across the country. This outstanding performance reflects the dedication of staff and students alike, as well as the school’s strong academic culture.
In addition to its national progress ranking, the school has also been the top-performing school in West Northamptonshire for average grade and average point score among disadvantaged students. With an impressive average grade of B+, the results demonstrate not only academic excellence but also a sustained commitment to equity and inclusion.
Behind every grade lies a story of personal achievement and opportunity. With an average grade of a strong B, more students than ever before secured places at their first-choice universities and apprenticeships. We are delighted with these results. They are a testament to the hard work of our students, and the exceptional quality of teaching and pastoral support delivered by our staff.

The achievement is particularly significant given their mission as a Catholic school — to provide a high-quality, inclusive education that nurtures spiritual, moral, and academic growth. They emphasised that student success is measured not only by examination results, but also by the development of character, resilience, and service to the community. St Thomas Becket showed their commitment to maintaining these high standards and continuing to ensure that every student, regardless of background, is empowered to reach their full potential.
The announcement has been met with pride across the school community, with staff, students, and families celebrating a milestone that firmly establishes the Sixth Form as one of the highest-performing in the region and among the very best in the country.
