Week of Prayer for Christian Unity 2021

This Monday, 18th January marks the start of the week of prayer for Christian unity. Each year a week is set aside for us to stand alongside our Christian brothers and sisters from all denominations to pray together through a particular theme. This year’s theme is ‘Abiding in Christ’. This theme is based on the words from John’s Gospel (15:1-17), “Abide in my love and you shall bear much fruit”

This year it is particularly important to stand together as Pope Francis reminds us in his book, ‘Let Us Dream’, “If we are to come out of this crisis better, we have to recover the knowledge that as a people we have a shared destination”.

 In 2021, the materials for the week of prayer for Christian unity have been produced by the sisters of the Community of Grandchamp in Switzerland. With a focus on inviting us all into their community rhythm of prayer with an emphasis on meditation and silence, alongside hymns and psalms.
