Welfare provision for sick and retired diocesan clergy
Priest Vicariate

clergy welfare department

Clergy Welfare forms part of the Priest Vicariate . Our diocese clergy work sacrificially throughout their lives serving the people of God and bringing them His Good News. Most of our priests retire from ministry when they reach 75 years old, although some retire early for health reasons.

As a Diocese we take seriously the responsibility of caring for our Priests through their retirement or sickness. The the clergy welfare department liaises with statutory and support agencies, reviews diocesan policies and procedures, assesses the individual needs of our priests in all aspects of their wellbeing, including health, accommodation and financial support.
